Meet Garmin Nuvi Phone

Garmin, the GPS giant just announce their new Nuviphone. It's a touchscreen like iPhone device. The device features full browsing, PIM, phone and of course, GPS functions galore. It's an HSDPA, quad-band phone, also equipped with WiFi, Bluetooth and a somewhat familiar ultrathin design with full touchscreen support. The unit will use Garmin's proprietary OS which is based on the UI which its GPS units utilize. anyways, no word on when and where and how much it will be in our neighbourhood. Stay Tuned.

Windows 7 to be released in 2011, not next year

You have probably heard of Windows 7(successor to Winodws Vista). It was also leaked with leaked photos and also a video. But what you don't know is the next MSFT OS is scheduling to be realeased in 2011, way ahead the the rumoured 2009. Microsoft has apparently gotten in touch with WinVistaClub and set the record straight: Windows 7 is in "planning stages," and development will take approximately three years. You see, it's development stages. However, no word on whether the leaked video and photos were true! So Microsoft, meet the "WOW" in the next three years or five years, huh?

More News From Apple

Sorry for not writing up recently, here's the dig. Hackers are going wild with firmware hacks for Apple multi touch products. The hack will work with previously hacked 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 firmwares . However, you guys should head on down to experienced it and tell me 'bout it. Good Luck.Link
Next, Apple just patented a new patent for iPods click wheel, which maybe will be appearing in later iPods in the future. The patent actually describes a backlighting click wheel with a pointer that follows. Still, no word on when will this happen in a real product with the recent volume limit patent too. Fingers crossed!!
Lastly, this is about the Thinnest Notebook in World which is MacBook Air. Reports from Engadget that this skinny is not even capable of fitting on a 3G USB modem and also the SuperDrive will now work with any other computers. Remote Disc features is showing no look to bottom:
There you have it , the surprises and sucks from Apple.

Sony's A2DP Players Hits FCC

All Sony Fanboys out there, you can now cross your fingers and wait for the upcoming new Sony's NWZ-A82X series walkman players to hit the stores. These 3 players already hit the FCC showing a rather sketchy image that looks like the back of any others NW series players. I got to only digged out these players will be getting built in A2DP. That is great, if just Apple could do that. Still, it could be nothing from Sony that is big.

The Zune to WMP Hack

Over at Zune Boards, PityOnU just got some real good news for you Zune users. For you guys, there are a hack and an app named the zAlternator which lets Zune users to manage their Zunes with iPod way or even in this case (WPD) WMP, Winamp or any other players. The iPod one is a little beta still but for others should work just fine. So what're you waitin for, go do it. And yes, you have to simply hack it first but after that, it would be smooth as toufu.

A Couple Of Apple Stuff

For this time, I'm going to merge a few Apple stuff in one, that would be just fine for knowing.

The MacBook Pro rumoured to get multi touch trackpad

Before you think that this is just another non-reliable or trustable rumour for Apple, this could be true. According to Appleinsider's reliable source, they are claiming that Apple are indeed going to also extend their new trackpads to their top of the line MacBook Pro, in several weeks. The Pros were actually scheduled to debut in MacWorld but caught up with the MacBook Air which needed more resources and personnel. Still there are no specs but a 2.5 GHz or 2.6GHZ mobile Penryn processors should be included.

$20 iPod Touch Upgrade Legal Or Not?

So the rising discontent with Apple's new habit of selective feature enabling got us thinking -- while we're not experts on the subject, the generally accepted reasoning for the $20 iPod touch upgrade fee is the accounting requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act: iPhone and Apple TV updates are free since revenue from those products is realized as a subscription over a period of time, but iPod touch updates can't be free since Apple just records that revenue directly. That certainly makes sense to us when applied to things like the 802.11n Enabler, which was trivially cheap and turned on unadvertised hardware features, but it strikes us as being a pretty big stretch when applied to a $20 package of new software applications. iPod name or no, the iPod touch is essentially a little computer, and the whole purpose of software is to enable "significant unadvertised new features" on a computer. For Apple (or anyone) to say that a mail app is a "significant new feature" for a computer is pushing the line just a bit far, and it makes us wonder how the company accounts for new versions of iTunes, QuickTime, and Safari, each of which add new features to already-sold Macs -- and how things are going to play out when the iPhone / iPod touch SDK is released next month. We've got a call into Apple to get to the bottom of it all, we'll let you know what (if anything) we find out.
Update: AT&T announced business corporate plans for iPhone(check it out at AT&T website)/ AirPort Extreme users experiencing hard time of not getting Time Capsule support.

MacBook Air Secret Behind The Success

According to an in depth research in Anandtech, They found out that the mystical success behind MacBook Air is because of a Intel's 65 nanometer (65nm) Merom architecture with an 800MHz bus.
This ultra small processor instead of the normal Intel Core 2 Duo processor , packs in a smaller and lighter package and seemed to have a total of 60% reduction of size. The ultra small chip is designed and created specially for MacBook air upon Steve request. However, this chip should be arrriving later on after the release of their Montevina platform in mid 2008.
The mixture of current and next-generation parts creates an unusual blend of performance characteristics. The new Core 2 Duo slots just above the Low Voltage (LV series) variants in terms of clock speed and power use -- starting at 1.6GHz with 20 watts of thermal design power versus 1.4GHz and 17 watts -- but is considerably more efficient than the regular mobile processor, which consumes 35 watts of peak power at a minimum 1.8GHz.

As why Steve did this is because to make these chips as compromise free of speed but as little as possible of increase on energy efficiency and heat as what they say.

So far so good, according to Anandtech, it would be just fine for Apple to cram 1.8Ghz to a MacBook Air.

Windows 7 rumoured to be coming in 2009

There were plenty of rumours for Vista . But this could be true, continue reading, please. According to TG Daily, they are reporting that the long rumoured Windows 7(let's just call it that, and for noobs, not WM7) which is the successor of Vista is planning to be released sometime in 2009 maybe 2nd half.
Anyways, if this is true, then it may shock everyone as Bill said " If you liked what iPhone does, then you will be shocked with what the next Windows can do" . That is so copycat. There were also rumours of Microsoft shipping this version of Windows to their key partners already . So guys, let the so-called "WOW" begin.

Eee PC 9 inch touchscreen coming?

Ok, a few taiwanese tipped digitimes off with a new Eee PC and Asus also confirmed about new bigger inches screen ones is making their way but now, according to Digitimes, they claimed that a 9 inch touchscreen and 10 inch touchscreen one is in the works for you all. Besides, it will be getting a four wire resistive touch panels(not multi touch) sorry! Anyways, this guys should be pushing the price to new heights. First the 10 inch and now the touch screen. Damn, but all will may cost only for a minimal price bump, just sit tight and wait guys

Brought Back To Life (1.1.3)

Confirmed: Bricked iPhones Rise From the Grave With Firmware 1.1.3
For all those unlocked iPhones out there that were bricked after attempting firmware upgrades, we have some great news. It appears that Apple's new 1.1.3 iPhone firmware rewrites either most or all of the phone's firmware, allowing for bricked iPhones to be brought back to life. If this sounds too good to be true, watch the video above. We tested it on our own dead iPhone that was originally unlocked with AnySIM and later bricked by an attempted upgrade. This phone had just been gathering dust in one of Brian Lam's many gadget drawers, so we were surprised when we finally had success with bringing it back to life. Getting the iPhone working again wasn't as easy as we expected, and at times it didn't seem like the firmware upgrade had worked, so here's what happened.
To upgrade, we put the phone in recovery mode, then connected to iTunes and restored/ upgraded. After the phone had finished upgrading, it would not work with our already valid ATT sim, so we had to activate the phone using iTunes. This is where we ran into some trouble, because after activating the iPhone under our existing account, the phone still did not show any signal and would not activate to our account. We restarted the phone and just like magic, were taken directly to the home screen. The phone now had signal and was clearly activated to our account. We made a few test calls, and tested the data connection, both with complete success.

The iPhone Gaming platform

TUAW reader Alex Cahiz pointed over to newcreatives website. It's a design that shows a possibility of gaming on an iPhone or iPod Touch. Still, nobody knows whether it would make up to a real actual product but is sure seems possible from the way I look at it.
Just by looking at it, you can see that the game uses your two fingers to steer your skateboard and also do other things like selection and other kind of stuff. Sure looks good to me!

Is it there or it isn't?

Recently, Steve Jobs shocked people when the new firmware 1.1.3 with apps for iPod touch comes with a price of $20. For guys who don't know, you get the software upgrade through iTunes after paying.
Guys from TUAW found out that the delivery package is a simple list of features for the iPod. The package arrives with an ipa extension which is zipped under a archive file located in the mobile applications folder . There's a package manifest and deliverable . The actual thing which is nothing than a simple text list of the features which are already installed with the 1.1.3 upgrade. But, it's encryted. There is a sinf that accompanies the product and a p7b that supports the manifest. Both of these use encryption technology to protect the integrity of the manifest and to limit access to the deliverable.
So guys just a matter of time of cracking this thing up.

Manual Management is Here

Thanks to the people who found out about this. iPhone firmware 1.1.3 and iTunes 7.6 now enables you to manually sync your media just like the iPods. Besides this update, you should probably knew about the chapters, subtitles and lyrics displaying capabilities that iPhone just adopt in 1.1.3. So launch yourselves to iTunes and get those manual media management thing going on!!!

MacWorld Keynote 2008

Ok, first I should celebrate my 50th posts in this blog, eventhough not a real big hit blog. Thanks for all those who enjoyed and supported me in this journey. I'm looking forward for more in the future. Anyways, I got to worked harder in my studies this year, it will be a very tough year for me. I'm already 14 btw. So, in advance, please excuse me for less posts but you can also visit blogs like engadget, tuaw, gizmodo and cnet and several others.

Let's begin. The MacWorld 2008 keynote brought excitement and also dissapointment. Let's start off with minor things. Steve unveiled a new companion to the oh so famous backing up software for Mac which is Time Machine. Time Capsule. Instead of with externals, it works wirelessly. The product looks like a AirPort Extreme Base Station, just added a 500GB or 1TB hard drive inside for backing up. You can back up a unlimeted ammount of Macs. Next up was the iPhone and iPod Touch updates. They got their updates with 1.1.3 firmware released. This is exactly from the leaked one few weeks ago. You will have Google's Traffic, My Location and hybrid view. The my location feature works like this. It tells you where you are through your cell phone signal or the Skyhook wireless network. Another thing new is the customizable home screen. You get to rearranged icons, add up to 9 home screens and also add webclips to the springboard. The 3rd party apps will be arriving in Feb after the SDK is released. Steve unveiled some cool ones like Chess. iPhone now can send multiple sms messages at once. Lyrics are now a feature and chapters and subtitles are now supported. However, iPod Touch users get it all with an extra 5 widgets from iPhone(u know what) for a $20 price tag. New ones during next shipment get it. Moving on, we got the iTunes Movie Rentals and also Apple TV. iTunes showed off new movie rentals for a $2.99 starting price and also offers HD quality and also surround 5.1 sound system. Steve showed it off and I got to say it is amazing. It's really pretty darn easy and straight forward. You buy it and less than 30 secs you get to start seeing it on your mac, pc iPod or whatever. Only in US for now. Apple TV take 2 is revealed. With a new UI, and also viewing photos from .Mac or iPhoto. Hey did I missed out? No computer required! Rent movies, but music videos and all iTunes content straight from your Apple TV and will synced back to computer later on. Podcasts and video podcasts support is now also added with HD too. Moving on again to the last of all. The MacBook Air, sorry guys no other. MacBook Air is as thin as air with 0.16 inch thin at thinnest point and 0.76 inch at thickest point. Well done Apple! I got to tell u it's freaking thin. with 13.3 inch LED screen, 1.6 or 1.8GHZ core 2 duo processor, 2GB ram, iSight, wi-fi, bluetooth built in, 80Gb Hard drive or 64GB SSD. Bad thing is $1799, no optical drive but an external one sold separately. Not only that, because of Apple try to keep things thin and wireless, no firewire, ethernet, only with a USB2.0 port, headphone out port and a DVI port. The door for that is a slide out door, pretty cool. the design looks more like the Nano. More curvy and round(not totally) edges and curved up sides. it looks pretty nice.Apple's also announced a feature called Remote Disk that'll let the Air get data off the optical drive in any PC or Mac running the Remote Disk software. Oh yeah, for last, multi touch trackpad. With the swiping, rotating pinching and zooming like the iPhone. Love it so much. Oh and no user replacable battery but for a charge of $129 like the MacBook Pro. That's all for the day, this guy is arriving in two weeks. Oh yeah, Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac unveiled. All can be pre ordered now(MacBook Air). Thank you everyone and also thank you Steve.

CES about to end

Ok, sorry for all readers. For three days already, I have been covering all the articles and new products from Consumer Electronics Show. So, let's talk what's happening. I am going to kinda speed through these stuff but you can always get more info from engadget.com and cnet.com as they had the full coverage at CES.
So let's begin. Early of the show, Sony and Microsoft kicked start most of the actions.
Sony released three new phones, W350i, W760i and Z555. First one is going to be packed with a 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth, Fm Radio and a memory stick micro slot with a 512MB bundled. 2nd up is a 3G slider with walkman 3.0 profile ,A2DP bluetooth , 3.2MP camera and a memory stick micro slot. And also the reflective diamond shaped fashion looking flip phone. Interesting ones are the 1st and 2nd. 1st one is a flip down phone(pictured above(4th) with keypad hiding beneath. It's cool with the music controls on the cover. 2nd one is more interesting. it is a gaming device like N81 but far better. You get to tilt your device to left and right like a PS3 sixasis controller. Cool with the Need For Speed ProStreet preloaded. All these are set to be released in February or later this year.
Ok, then let's move on. Sony also released a few Blu-Ray laptops, Sony speakers and the XEL OLED TV in U.S.
But what's next is the real deal. The Mylo 2. It is redesigned and packed with a 3.5 inch touch screen display. It will be capable of NetFront web surfing Skype communications, RSS, podcast playback, music video photos and also flash video playback. This bugger will be having a 1GB internal memory, 802.11b/g only and a 1.3 MP camera. Just for fun. Ok, time is precious. Finally for Sony, they had their memory cards bumped up to 16GB.
Moving over to Microsoft, Bill did his 12th and final keynote as he is getting off his full time job. They did announced HD content and IPTV service for XBox. Microsoft did indeed mention putting together their Windows Live services into a device that will benefit in the future. However it is not a official product yet.
Moving on to the others. LG showed off their prototype watch phone at CES. It's packed with bluetooth, messaging, and a few others features. The design is somehow like a LG shine top with the roller thing with the two buttons at the side. It's still prototype! Meanwhile, Logitech unveiled a couple of new controls. Logitech Harmony One was redesigned with a nice click wheel in the mid. Moving on to the OQO ultraportable laptop. It got a bump up to 64GB with SSD . Sennheiser new MX W1 with Kleer Technology. This wireless earphones is compatible with any mp3 players through a 3.5mm headphone jack. Basically, it is a small device that you can attach to your mp3 player's back and transmit the wireless music to the bundled (iphone bluetooth headset liked) earphones. Cool, but it's $600 per pair and it is so pain in the ***. Updates for Nokia N95, N95 8GB is now coming to U.S. Samsung also updated their bluetooth player with bluewave technology. So now , we can answer calls on the players and also reject a call. A few Mobile Internet Devices like Aigo, Lenovo Menlow platform . Not really anything new, at least not as good as Nokia N810 Tablet.
Motorola new phones in the town are the Z10, ROKR E8(like rumoured before) and two W series. The Z10 is like the the Z8 with an additions of better recording time and speed with up to 24 hours of recording time. and also up to 8GB expandable memory. The E8( a few posts ago) spots a touch sensitive keypad that displays related icons when in different modes like music mode. For an example, it will show shuffle, repeat icons instead of phone keys when in music mode. Cool, right.
Lastly, mp3 players. These guys are coming from Sandisk, Creative, iRiver, Philips and Slacker. Sandisk Sansa View is bumped up to 32GB flash memory and sansa clip is getting a mirror finish on the surface, enough to make your teeth shine brightly. Creative added a speaker to their Zen stone plus and the original one. Nothing surprising from Creative though. Philips updated their GoGear series with one that supports online music services and bluetooth support.
But real guy is iRiver. iRiver unveiled tons of playeras including the rumoured Spinn, Lplayer, W7 and more. Real deal was the Spinn. It has a 3 inch screen and a spinning hinge at the bottom to flip or roll through menus just by rolling the small roller. Unique for a moment. then there was the up to 8GB Lplayer that is cute and tiny and sports a D-Pad like the Clix one . Check out all the pictures of the product above. From top to bottom, Z555, Mylo2, W760i, W350i, Motorola ROKR E8 and Slacker prtable. Others, due to midnight, you all have to check it out yourself

More updates

CES and the Macworld keynote is coming, so I'm really going to take some rest and take off a little as lots of things will be needed to be covered. I'm just going to go on with this rumour and patents . Yesterday, Apple just filed a few patents including some mysterious docking station for iMac and a keyboard. Check out the picture above. Simply said, it's a side lit for you to insert your MacBook into your iMac. It's a 2 in 1 package. When at home, slide your MacBook in and enjoy the big screen and other extra goodies like the ports and some hard drive space. Great, right? If just it's cheap and affordable. The keyboard patent is much like the maximus one. It has an OLED screen in every single button/key so it will be able to change according to your usage of language. Something like that. Anyway, another rumor is claiming an Blu-ray or maybe HD-DVD drive for the next Mac Pro. Cool huh? It's really time for an upgrade. Like I said again, we will have to wait and see.

P.S. I will be giving out less posts for the next couple days so if you wan't a little update I will post some. Leave comments , ok. I will still be around once in a while. And ya, SlingBox is now available for BlackBerry. The client costs $30.

More Rumors And Confirmations

With Macworld just 13 days to go, rumors are popping up everywhere. The latest one came from Mac Rumors. Folks there claimed that reliable sources got details of an upcoming ultraportable notebook which probably will be added to the Mac Notebooks family. This so claimed ultraportable(maybe more than one) will be also touting a multi-touch trackpad and also an external optical drive instead of an internal one. That makes it more thinner and smaller than before. Well, all will be resting behind when Mr. Steve step up on January 15th(Macworld Event). Before I forget, Axiotron did confirmed their ModBooks and will be start shipping for $2290.

UPDATE: Another untrustful picture just surfaced at MacRumors from a unknown user. This picture(below) is rather to be true or should be false. Anyways, the picture do show a ultrathin MacBook with no optical drive and also a rather larger trackpad(could be Multi-touch trackpad). Again, there's no it's true or it's false here.
